In this new promo video, Founder Charlie Davies talks about how an initial volunteer trip to Palestine with his skateboard resulted in founding SkatePAL – An educational organisation dedicated to spreading the love of skateboarding in Palestine.
During his time volunteering as an English teacher in 2006, skateboarder Charlie Davis would take his board into the streets after class. He was amazed to find crowds of kids gathering round, asking how he made the board jump in the air, assuming there must be magnets in his shoes.
He soon discovered that skateboarding was something new to Palestine, and the idea for SkatePAL was born.

It’s looking about 60/40 boys to girls this year, which means we are getting close to an even participation…
We would love to see more girls shredding with the boys so take a look at one of the summer dates held at Forrest of Dean in Wales this year where the likes of Zeta Rush, Helena Long and Josie Millard will be coaching.
Take a look at some of the girls videos from previous camps below!
Rubicon also run a girls only week in August for those wanting some girl time, it’s a mixed camp for skateboarders, scooters, inliners and bmxers so there’s something for everyone! – http://www.camprubicon.com
The girls comp at Vert Attack this year went off! Lizzie Armanto took a deserved first place, with little Brighton Zeuner coming close behind.
Our girl Rebecca Aimee Davies (UK) placed a respectable 8th… “I just missed out on the finals, but since I’ve only been getting back to (vert) skating in the summer its not bad, I was competing against some of the best skaters in the world. Keep watching, these girls are killing it!”

The top 2 ladies from the Wheels Of Fortube Advanced Division will be given ‘Wild Cards’ to officially compete in the Women’s Street Competition at the X Games in early June 2016.
Women’s Skateboarding Alliance (WSA), the global management and consulting agency dedicated to authentically representing the industry voice of women’s skateboarding in partnership with The Alliance, a nonprofit association of professional women skateboarders, established the first ever global qualifying event in the history of women’s skateboarding for X Games. WSA is honored to team up with Seattle-based Skate Like a Girl (SLAG) and ESPN’s X Games to facilitate this venture.
“We’ve served as an advocate and regulatory body for women’s professional skateboarding for over 10 years,” says Mimi Knoop, Founder and President of WSA.
“With worldwide telecast support from ESPN and increased participation by female skateboarding globally, we now have an opportunity to further support and develop up-and-coming women skateboarders on an international stage. We are thrilled to be working with Skate Like a Girl and the X Games to reach this critical milestone in women’s skateboarding.”
The much anticipated sanctioned Skate Like a Girl 7th Annual Wheels of Fortune official qualifier contest will debut May 6-8, 2016 in Seattle, Washington at the venue, All Together Skate Park.
