NIKE SB WELCOMES LACEY BAKER

You’ve joined a team with some of the best skateboarders in history. Why Nike?

After I won the SLS Super Crown World Championship in L.A. last fall, I started exploring possible shoe brands. Nike SB is ultimately where I felt most at home. That team is tight.

Now you’ll be traveling and filming and demo-ing with skaters who aren’t just famous but iconic, like P-Rod and Eric Koston and Theotis Beasley. How are you feeling?

Incredibly honored! I knew many of the riders already, and we share a lot of core values, though we all have very different skate styles. I’m also excited to make an impact by expanding the female roster. It’s a step in the right direction—to build out an entire team of female and male skaters versus having just one token girl.

NASS Festival 2017

“NASS is a packed weekend of raw action sports, music and party-hard living. Land at NASS and you’ll find yourself smack bang in a world where ravers and athletes go BIG…  No matter if you’re moshing at main stage, raving in The Warehouse or watching our world class skateboarders and BMX riders killing it in the Pro Park, there’s not a minute of the day that isn’t going off at NASS.

Skateboarding at NASS Festival brings together the world’s best athletes to compete in one of the biggest and most progressive contests you will ever witness. Every year the standard of skating gets better and better. We were blown away by the level of riding last year and 2017 promises to be nothing less than spectacular. This summer the world’s best skaters will drop into NASS Festival to fight it out for a share of the $22,000 prize purse.

Last year’s Pro Park competition was insane and the 2017 park will be even better. Europe’s leading skate park builders – Four One Four Skateparks – always provide the perfect terrain for our family of skateboarders and will once again design the NASS Pro Park. Given last year’s course; with its monster drop-ins, open loops and huge transitions, 2017’s design ought to be even more epic and will certainly push skaters to their limits.  We will also see the return of the very best vert ramp in Europe with the biggest names in Vert coming to compete for a slice of Europe’s biggest prize purse. ”

Everyone at NASS is welcome on the Public Skate Street Park. Skate for as long as you want, free of charge.

The Women’s Sport Trust #BeAGameChanger Awards recognise those individuals and organisations doing the most to progress women’s sport.

Hannah Bailey of action sports and lifestyle PR brand Neon Stash is a finalist for the Photographer / Filmmaker of the year award at the Womens Sports Trust ‘Be A Game Changer Awards’.

Voting is open 18-30 April and Winners will be announced at the #BAGC2017 awards in London on Thursday 11th May 2017.

HANNAH BAILEY

The focus of her work has been to encourage female participation in  action sports and increase the representation of female athletes in  the media – both of which she believes break stereotypes, address
issues of inappropriate female representation in the media and  encourage mental well-being.

Tired of women’s magazines deflating spirits and setting unrealistic standards, Hannah focuses on using women whose lives and motivations are action and adventure. Collecting content in a bid to increase the
presence of their inspirational stories in the media, her words and photos have featured in/on; Dazed Digital, i-D Online, Broadly, Huck, Oh Comely, Stay Wild, Lomography and MTV. Her works has ultimately resulted in increased awareness of action sports nationwide in a credible and supportive way, with a sideline aim of pushing more female content creators.

In 2016, Hannah put on her first solo photography exhibit “Skate Stories” – a retrospect of images and stories collected over years of following the female skate scene in the UK. Her aim was to show the
real faces of woman who are skating through her series of exquisite analogue images. The exhibit was hosted at the Lomography Gallery on Carnaby Street for 6 weeks over the summer.

Dismantling society’s warped idea of what it means to be a woman, and the media’s unrealistic ideals of beauty which we spend our lives being measured against, Hannah aims to redefine what it means to be a
woman, and champion these inspirational skaters as role models for generations of girls to come. Twitter: @NeonStash
