LACEY BAKER WINS SLS WOMENS WORLD CUP 2016!

screen-shot-2016-10-03-at-02-41-36That was intense!

After a couple of solid runs and absolutely stomping the best trick competition staying a good 10 points ahead of the other girls for quite some time, Lacey was looking a clear winner. As always Leticia Bufoni quickly made her way back to the top of the scoreboard, with a huge frontside 180 to flat. It was pretty much head to head when on the final run, Leticia took a gnarly slam on the big rail, automatically making Lacey Baker the 2016 Gold medalist, with Leticia taking Silver and Alexis taking Bronze.

When interviewed after, she said…

“I just wanted to stay consistent, be focused, land some technical shit… whatever.”

We love you Lacey!

VANESSA TORRES IS OUT OF TONIGHTS SLS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Oh no! We are super upset to learn that one of our favourite skaters, Vanessa Torres, has been sidelined with a torn ACL whilst filming for her part in ‘Quit Your Day Job’ and will be unable to compete in the SLS Super Crown Women’s competition tomorrow.

“I suffered a full ACL tear filming for the Quit Your Day Job video, but am thrilled to announce that I completed a full part that I am damn proud of, and can’t wait for everyone to see it!”

Vanessa will still be a part of the SLS Women’s event this weekend, as an on-camera announcer.

With Vanessa unable to compete, Aori Nishimura will be skating in her place in the Women’s competition this weekend. Just 15yrs old from Tokyo, Japan, Aori currently skates for Deathwish, Shake Junt, Oakley, and Murasaki Sports. She placed 8th in the X Games Women’s Street contest in Austin this year and also 2nd in the X Games Women’s Street Qualifiers in Seattle.

If you’ve not seen Aori skate before, have a look at her run from this year’s X Games in Austin, she absolutely kills it!

History was made last October with the introduction of the first SLS Women’s competition at the Super Crown World Championship in Chicago. Eight of the most elite female skaters in the world battled it out for $30K for first place—which was the largest purse given in a female contest in 2015.

The Women will be competing before the Men, on October 2nd 5:20pm local time (LA) – Tune in to the Street League Live Stream over at http://www.streetleague.com from 1am Monday morning UK time to watch these ladies compete…

Savannah teams up with Goodhood to shake up gender stereotypes with GLITTER

Since its inception, Goodhood has always challenged gender stereotypes and shoved the status quo to aside. Tired of content clichés, Goodhood team up with our lass Savannah Stacey Keenan to celebrate a polymorphous and fearless femininity.

“We want to show women as polymorphous, fearless yet delicate and not having to conform to pre-conceived ideas of femininity, which we believe there is more pressure than ever right now to conform to. Of course, more can be done and sexism is rife even in our daily lives.

I’ve lost count of the times when I’ve been in meetings and been addressed as the owner of our business when in fact it is a 50/50 operation. I believe if you are not the solution then by being complicit you are part of the problem, so everyone needs to play their part.” – Kyle Stewart (co-owner of Goodhood)
