Street League Skateboarding is welcoming eight women into a Women’s Division tomorrow in the 2015 SLS Nike SB Super Crown World Championship.
Alexis Sablone, Leticia Bufoni, Vanessa Torres, Lacy Baker, Alana Smith, Pamela Rosa, Samaria Brevard and Marisa Dal Santo will be competing for a $30,000 prize pot and the first ever Women’s World Champion title!
The prize money is quite equal to the men’s yet – but we’re getting there, and although the women’s division is 5 years late, the girls competing are looking to the future… “It’s better now than never,” says Mimi Knoop, president and founder of the Women’s Skateboarding Alliance, which partnered with SLS to create the first women’s contest in the series.
Each stop of the 2015 season will air live on FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports Go with a live international webcast on Streetleague.com.
The women will also be featured in a one-hour television special October 18 at 4 p.m. ET on FS1
Make sure you’re tuned in for a little piece of female skateboarding history being made!
